The Morning I Didn’t Want To Go

I stayed out too late on a recent Saturday. Slept badly. Woke up Sunday cranky and foggy, already talking myself out of going to church. Sound familiar at all?

I almost didn't go.  I had talked myself out of it. But at the last minute I showered, got dressed, and went.

And I regretted it immediately. Sitting there bleary-eyed, all I wanted to do was close my eyes and nap through the whole thing. It took every bit of patience to not tell the little boy in front of me to stop dropping his crayons and to just sit still.

But I stayed and listened. And by the time I walked out — still tired, still foggy headed — something had shifted. I remember thinking to myself, "I'm glad I went".

I think about this every time a client tells me they almost skipped class. "Didn't sleep well". "Not feeling it today". "My knee hurts". "Allergies are bothering me".  I get it. We all get it.

But here's what I know to be true: you will never leave a workout wishing you hadn't gone. You might walk in dragging. You might spend the first ten minutes wondering why you bothered. You might not be able to focus on your movements. Probably need to drop down in your spring tension.  But you won't walk out regretting it.  There's a great chance you'll walk out feeling so much better than when you walked in.

It's not always about being uber excited to go to a workout (or church). It's about showing up anyway. And, just remember, WE ALWAYS look forward to seeing you.
